I was hoping of the members on this forum could help me I am trying to reflow and xhp50 on 29mm copper sinkpad for my son’s modded small sun , I already removed the old emitter by heating on electric pan @375°F now the big question is how to tell on the new emitter which is the +&- so I don’t fry the new emitter so please any help is again greatly appreciated!
look underneath the emitter and you will see this shape (-|)

Iam sorry if this sounds dumb but could you explain it a little bit more?
Hold your LED like this and left side is anode.

well I did it right thanks to you both and I believe I got it to work for a few seconds,Iam going through it now and no the tail switch has failed so I’ll be check solder joints there but yes it did work thanks for the detailed info ,at least I didn’t burn out the led and for my 1st try Iam happy just a crap light.
