Hello, first post here. I’ve found this site very useful and hope that I can contribute soon.
I require a red flashlight and thought the Cree XP-E2 in red was best for my purposes. I also need it to be CR123 sized with multiple modes.
So I was thinking of buying this Ultrafire WF602C with XR-E Q2
http://dx.com/p/ultrafire-wf-602c-cree-q2-wc-5-mode-150-lumen-led-flashlight-with-strap-1-cr123a-19464
and removing the LED and replacing it with the red XP-E2
The maximum current is the same (1A)
However, the forward voltage at 1A for the XR-E is 3.7V. The same spec for the red XP-E is 2.65V.
That’s the problem - will the driver in the Ultrafire flashlight drive the red XP-E?
Thanks
Werner

Welcome to the forum.
You could just buy the host and a 2xAA driver which will give 1A@3V.

These are all shops with free shipping, but I haven’t found such a shop selling the new revision of the red xpe, the xpe2.
Here are reviews of some drivers including the above linked one

Thee are a lot other driver options especially if you will use a rechargeable liion battery.
But I would guess you could buy the DX one and just swap the led too.
