Hello everybody, i’m new to the hobby but have been lurking around for a bit. I currenly have a wurkkos TS22, which I love, for my bike, bought largely based on recommendations of this site. Ive seemed to have fallen into a rabbit hole of sorts as when i saw the convoy M21F in gray, i instantly thought that it looked amazingly good and very much like a lightsaber and bought it with a sft40 3v 8a driver. Perfect, now i have a flooder and a thrower. But then i found out about green emmiters, the cslnm1.f1 and the cslpm1.f1 and that would really turn my M21f into a lightsaber. I know i can buy the led from simon but any excuse to get a new flashlight is most welcome, and it would be great to add on a convoy m2 or S8+ to my collection as both have green emmiters. My question is, does anybody know if i can just swap the leds over as i know they come with different size dtp boards and i am worried they wont fit. Any help with my light saber build will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Ben.
I’ve been looking into builds myself but haven’t done my first one yet, so I’ll have a stab at answering and someone with more experience can correct me if I’m wrong. ![]()
They’re both 3V emitters so you should be able to swap them but you’ll need a soldering iron and a hot-plate. As the MCPCBs are different sizes after removing them from the hosts you’ll need to re-flow the emitters to get them onto the correctly-sized boards, then it should just be a matter of putting them back into the hosts and re-soldering the connectors.
Buy the emitter pre-soldered on a 20mm mcpcb if you don’t have a hotplate. I fitted my m21f with xhp50.3hi, simple swap, remember to get the correct gasket for the reflector though.
You’re going to love it here, Ben1!

I can’t find any tests on this Emitter but I’m pretty sure it won’t be able to handle 8A.
So if you plan to use this Emitter you’d likely need to replace the driver.
It looks like Simon(Convoy) typically pairs this emitter with a 6A driver so my guess is, this emitter can’t handle 8A either.
Yeah I had a look at the data sheet, don’t give it 8A.
Thanks so much for the replies everybody. Tks for checking the specs on this for me too Chris. Much appreciated.
So I guess swapping in the emitter won’t work.
What about if I bought an M1 with the cslnm1.f1 in it and swapped out all the parts into my m21f. Do you have any idea if it will all fit ? The head size is close and I’m hopeful that it will. Or if the M1 is too small I think there’s an m21b with a green emitter too.
Once again, thanks again for all the great info guys. You all rock. Tq tq tq.
No, the m21f use a special double deck side switch driver, which is different from other tail switch model. I think it’s best to stick with the new light if you’re buying one, or bet on luminus to release a sft-25r green, they already did with sft-10.
edit: just realized they already did with the SFT-20-CG which can be driven up to 10A. You might want to take a look? ![]()
yay! and so the dream of a green M21F lives on man! tq so so much!
