Hi - I’ve been into lights for a little while, at least enough to get my toes wet, I’m not super picky, but recently I’ve been putting a lot of thought about what I wanted for an EDC light, and I’ve got it pretty narrowed down what I want, but I haven’t been able to find exactly what I’m looking for, so I thought I’d make an account and ask. I’m not sure if this is the right area of the forum to ask questions, but if it’s not, could someone please point me in the right direction?
I’m just going to give a quick run-down of what lights I have and what I like.
A couple of super cheap AAA lights by Coast and my finding an older AAA Maglight (yay! free light - oh, it’s kind of dim……) are kind of what got me looking into getting better lights. I’d had a few pretty decent AA lights before, just didn’t use them much, never really considered the idea of carrying a light around daily! One of those lights I had gotten was a Sunwayman v10a - still have it, it still works - pretty disappointed to find out that they no longer exist as a company. Was really hoping to find what I was looking for from them. Picked up an Olight 13T, big fan, but it still doesn’t put out a lot of light. Also got a couple of Streamlights and a Klarus XT series, mostly for weapon lights. Big fan of them, you can really light up the room and anything outside! But they’re way too bulky to EDC. I have a Streamlight 1L-AA which is awesome, but it doesn’t have as much output as I’d like, and not a fan of non-reusable batteries, had some issues with using AA’s in it. Got a Thrunite T1S recently, in neutral white, huge fan of the color, the size, and the variable light options. The selection options are also nice and intuitive, no playing a guessing game by spamming the button to find the right output. But I also have decided I really don’t like the forward mounted switch on the side of the light. A tail cap switch is so much more intuitive when it’s dark out, and I only have 1 free hand.
Anyhow, that’s the gist of things, if someone could tell me where to make my post about the specifics of what I’m looking for in a light I’d really appreciate it.
