This is a counter-terrorism scene played by me and my friend , we are all men
I have one ultrafire that Iāve had for over a year. I did not buy it. It was used as a shipping container for two 18350s. I can say that it worked very good for that. It has three modes and no memory. I looked it up on their website, WF-502B, when I got it and saw that they still have that model. I played with it for less than 5 minutes and then forgot about it. When this thread came along I went and found it again and looked it up again on their website and skimmed over their other models. They link to a video review from 8 years ago where the guy does not like it or recommend it. Why would I want to look further into any of their models? Do not answer that.
It does look like theyāve made some ui or mode changes to it over the years.
As far as I know, they have already focused on the Chinese market. They are now well-known in China.
We are not seeking to make a comeback. We are now firmly controlling our quality. We only want our brand to be well remembered by everyone, and not to have our reputation destroyed by counterfeits. Although I come here very late, I am confident that I can do this well. We will listen to everyoneās opinions, and I am happy to see so many messages, and so many people still remember us!
If you (the hwawys company) can consistently produce at least a wf-501B to surefire standards like the Superfire I used to have, I, for one, might be willing to give you guys another look. The other āqualityā WF-501b I had ever seen was from āeXtremeBeamā. I never bought one though, as there were reports that it was literally just another cheapo ultrafire āknockoffā. Only ONE person reported being surprised at the type 3 anodizing, and how it felt solid and rugged.
Thatās not that difficult a challenge, I paid $26 for a VERY high quality HAIII Superfire WF 501-B back in 2007/2008, when all the āultrafireā equivalents were floating around for $8 on ebay. I thought I had gotten taken for a ride, until I ordered one of those to replace my lost Superfire. Yeah, they were crap, nothing compared to the Superfire. Would you be willing to send samples of a high quality WF-501B to a few of us who still have the WF-501B for a side by side comparison? (Just a host would be awesome, as I imagine many of us still have our P60 drop ins.
You jogged my memory- something else that was hiding in a drawer.
It wouldnāt surprise me if both of mine arenāt the legit/ good versions. They would have been bought off DealExtreme, back around 2010?
A review from back then- mine seems to be the same. Review: Ultrafire WF-501B with 5-mode MC-E drop-in
Iāll immediately escalate your request for sample hosts to our product team.
Got it. If they were purchased from DX around 2010, yours are legitāwe were the only ones selling the genuine ones there at the time. Thanks!
Theyāre still a fair bit thicker than the superfire one I had, lolā¦but that anodizing looks a lot closer
We have two versions. One is matte black, as shown in the picture (I found it in the studio). The other is glossy black, but I donāt seem to find it here.
Looks close to what I had, except the tail and body are still a bit too thick, and the knurling isnāt as deep or aggressive. The knurling was around half a mm deep, and very raspy, like a coarse file. Very similar to Novatac knurling.
Here are some examples, you might be able to tell from the shadowing how deep and aggressive the knurling is.
It would be interesting to compare the current WF-501B to the old one, and also the P60 hosts Kaidomain currently sell. They come in both 18650 and 21700 body size (Iāve got both of those as well.)
Iāll make a post letting friends who still have the WF-501B know they can reach out to me to check out the current quality of our UltraFire products. Thanks for the idea!
On top, one of my newest lights. Below that, one of my oldest lights. A UF-T1 thatās still going strong!
Now THAT is getting much closer to what I had. The body tube has a much nicer taper, and a more aggressive knurling, as well as being a bit thinner than the more recent smooth knurling. It still seems a little bit thicker than what I had, and the anodizing is a little darker, but this one is VERY close.
This version has been discontinued, If thereās enough demand for that aggressive knurling, thinner profile, and classic anodized finish, weād seriously consider reviving it.
Have to say I admire your attention regarding replying directly to questions and being helpful. That in itself is a breath of fresh air here, many manufacturers just use BLF as a billboard for Google to pick up and ignore everyone. Looking at you Tunenge.
I also appreciate youāve got a bit of a job on your hands as Ultrafire had a reputation for being cheap and maybe of dubious quality, and a somewhat undeserved reputation for cells catching fire. I fully understand that it was fairly early days for the lithium ion battery and Ultrafire were copied, faked, re-wrapped etc. As a nod of encouragement, I think youāre going about an Ultrafire relaunch the right way, keeping your cool.
Now we need to see some product, or set up some BLF inspired projects (the latter takes forever by the way ).
Thank you so much for your thoughtful words and encouragement! It truly means a lot to hear that our efforts to engage authentically are resonating with the community. While Ultrafireās legacy carries some historical baggage, Iām here as part of a fresh chapter for the brand ā one thatās committed to listening, learning, and rebuilding trust through action.
Better late than never. What matters now is showing up consistently, addressing concerns head-on, and delivering products that speak for themselves.
Your support fuels this reboot, and we wonāt take that for granted.
