hi from not-so-sunny melbourne, australia.
i’ve been fascinated with lights and torches (flashlights) since i was a kid. i only recently re-kindled an interest in electronics, and while googling LEDs i discovered the hidden gem that is the flashaholic community!
a world of possibility has opened up and i was pleased to find such a diverse community here! lovers of incans, warm and cool LEDs, EDCs and ICEs, store buyers and modders alike… there’s something for everyone here!
plus - the community strikes me as being quite friendly and welcoming.
while i’ve been a bit of a traditionalist until now, using mostly dolphin torches and maglites, i am open to new experiences. ultimately i’d love to design and build my own custom torches/flashlights. (need to expand my tool collection (and more importantly - my knowledge) first!)
anyway… i’m a family man. i work two jobs to pay the bills. both jobs are in public hospitals. one as a patient sitter and the other as an orderly. most of the wards have Dolphin torches lying around and most of the wards havr upgraded to LED technology - not all though.
quite often police officers or paramedics will come into the emergency department, but i’ve never gotten a look at what they carry (usually firearm, radio, capsicum spray, baton and handcuffs are obvious… not so much their torch/flashlight). it’d have to be something tactical though?
i look forward to meeting you all (virtually) in time. so many creative and clever people here. some of the stuff designed and crafted by Old Lumens inspires and awes me. who knew flashlights could be things of beauty, rather than just a highly functional tool? amazing.
