Hola from the Southwest

Greetings, all! I’ve been on one of the other flashlight forums for a number of years, and lately been referencing BLF more and more often, so I wanted to sign up. I’m trying to learn up on the “latest” emitters, I keep coming across LEDs I’ve never heard of so I must be at least five years behind. Continuing the quest for the perfect specifications for a given application, like most of us I guess.

Have a great weekend,
R.VanWinkle

We’re very glad to have you here, R.VanWinkle!
My two favorite emitters right now are the LHP531 and the SFT40.
The LHP531 is quite new to the scene while the SFT40 has been around for a while.
The SFT40 is the most practical throwy emitter that also provides some usable spill.
The LHP531 is extremely bright and has a good mixture of flood and throw, in my opinion.

Welcome to BLF R.VanWinkle!

Good way of putting it regarding the quest for the perfect specs for a given application. Maybe that’s why I have so many of them!!!

I should add that I want to try a Convoy flashlight with the LHP73B emitter, which is another recent release.
As soon as there’s a suitable driver for the M21E, I plan to try that very powerful emitter. :+1:

raccoon, NeutralFan, thanks for your replies!

I hadn’t heard of the LHP351, I’ll take a look!

I bought an SFT40 light earlier this year and am very pleased with it. I prefer 4000-4500k temps, but 5000k was recommended to me as the sweet spot for tint and performance, and I would have to agree. Mine is a beautiful white, none of the green that you hear criticised with the cooler SFT40s. (I do hate green tints with a passion. Still carrying the trauma of all those years of bad luck with XPGs.) It’s been a pleasant light for the nightly dog walk, but of course I’m always looking for that neutral Grail led that will have high CRI without the penalties…
