The switch can be forced further down in the tailcap, allowing the use of 18650s.
I used a garden hose barb and a rubber mallet.
And it works ok? Would love to see that, maybe post some picks - How bright is it with the 18650? I have two of these and that would be a fun mod.

My store only had the 5 pack. Picked up 3xAA 52L /17L Flashlight/latern for 5$

You just need to push the switch disk in until it seats at the bottom of the tailcap.
I used a hose barb, but any tube that fits just inside the tailcap can be used to evenly press the switch disk while protecting the center battery contact. Cardboard underneath, and a rap with a rubber mallet is all it takes.
Never mind. I was thinking backwards. LOL
