Then explain why you didn’t.
My point is that only making positive reviews is not full honesty.
And their use of the wrong emitter does not give them any points either.
I don’t think you realize how busy I am though, that’s why I can’t say I’ll do that. I run a flashlight business in NZ, plus have about 10 flashlights to review while trying to live a life outside of flashlights. Video editing takes a lot of time, like along the lines of 30 hours per review. My Acebeam X75 review took 20 hours just to get all my drone footage.
I provided photos and explained the issues I had on this forum, that’s basically a review, just not in video form.
A forum like this is the best place for a company to defend themselves. This is a tremendous opportunity for Armytek to defend their actions or make good on them. Armytek the next post needs to be from you.
They know this thread exists from the start since I linked it in my last email so they could see the XHP70. I received no response from them about using the wrong LED. Once they knew the warranty was void they ceased communication.
Both have shitty CS for international customers and it is often reminded on r/flashlight, I have also complained about it.
ZL enjoys better popularity because the CS in US is better (local CS) even though apparently still not amazing, now they don’t even sell directly outside of US so the complaints will be fewer and fewer. For a couple of years now I’ve only bought them from Nkon and they handle warranty (EU obligation), and I’ve been satisfied with Nkon CS.
It’s also because their products are more popular than Armytek’s.
I don’t know the figures, I’m just under the impression the Wizard sells better than any Zebralight headlamp since it’s mentioned more often here, on TLF and runner’s fora.
Agreed it is lousy to give answers like the ones Funtastic received. Otoh, I have not heard complaints on TLF from people actually sending their lights in.
If I would have sent it in it would have been fine. I was just annoyed at the responses when the video and photo clearly showed the issue. I explained that I was the owner of “Piercing The Darkness” in New Zealand and a reviewer for them, yet still asked silly questions as if it was possibly user error. That was the last straw lol. I couldn’t help myself and had to dismantle it.
I installed an XHP70.2 out of another flashlight for testing and it’s much more impressive. Good build quaily, performance, nice beam etc, but who knows how many received these gen 1 XHP70’s, it could be heaps and they’d never know it. I’m just glad I didn’t send it back to see what was inside.
I recently bought Wizard C2 locally. It works so far.
During the purchase, I thought it was a Chinese company registered in North America or Europe like Zebralight,
but now I found out that the Armytek owners and managers are in Belarus.
Management - Number of Executives Person: 1, Belarus.
Shareholders / Participants - Belarus.
Where did you get the impression that ZL is a Chinese company ? As far as I know it’s a US company that manufactures their products in China, like many others.
And considering the components they use in their drivers I would bet they don’t outsource driver design to China.
Oh, OK, so it seems that ”foreign for profit” means that it is either incorporated in another US state, or actually a non US corporation.
Chinese names, doesn’t mean much because of the large Chinese diaspora in the US.
What I find bizarre is the components thing I mentionned, they use components made by US manufacturers, something that Chinese flashlight companies don’t really do (expect for the high power DC-DC converter IC with no chinese equivalent), the MOSFETs are usually from Vishay and especially they use inductors from Coilcraft which are the most expensive ones on the market, a Chinese manufacturer will just choose a 10~20 times cheaper Chinese inductor, even if it needs to be larger for the same performance (yes ZLs are small, but not that much starved from space)
