How do you attach your light to the wrist strap? (without damaging it)

I like my lights to be blemish free for the most part, so attaching a lanyard / strap is a bit of a problem. I also use all of them regularly, I don’t really have shelf queens.

The reinforced thread type ones are ok, but after a while start to wear out and you risk dropping, also as they wear through the wire inside causes a bit of wear.

Then there are the clip type lanyards/straps which clip directly on to, or via a keyring to the tail cap - this definitely damages the finish and wears into the metal.

I can’t be the only one with this disablement! how do you attach your straps? Maybe thinner paracord? Nylon keyrings? feel free to post your method, I’d love to see your ideas.

Use the clip.

Maybe try a thin layer of grease or wax around the clip hole to protect the anodizing?

I have had a couple of “high wear” type of items that seemed to just “eat” the cell-phone type lanyards.
Eventually I tried attaching the lanyard, and then putting a small blob of hot-melt glue on the wear-area to sort of “lock-in” the loop
It has worked pretty well overall and the glue is easy to remove without damaging anodizing if you want it gone.

Either of those would help I think, the hot glue sounds least messy. I have looked quite hard for some small keyrings around 10mm dia with pvc on them (like a paper-clip is covered in sometimes) but to no avail……

Maybe Plasti Dip the ring yourself?

Also, another alternative to microcrystaline waxes that might be less messy is lanolin (wax from sheep’s wool). As an added bonus, it works great on chapped lips and dry skin.

1/8” braided Dacron Kevlar cord tied in a dual mini hang-mans noose, covering the coiled knot with heat shrink.
Similar to Paracord tying.

Not a Knot guy (pun intended). Can you post a picture of what that looks like?

Like this, with the tail pulled through the center of the (noose) wrap. A knot tied at the ends of each tail.

Final appearance. Remember this is 1/8” cord!

Atwood makes something called “Micro cord” tensile strength is 100 lbs. I make loops out of that and replace them when they start to fray.

That 125’ spool is less than $5 and you can find it on eBay.

very cool, thanks

Thank you all, and that looks great ARsee! very nice - I do have some 2mm paracord in the mail - the holes in my lights are around 2.5/3mm.
As it goes I had some elastic braided look webbing on the front of a rucksack - had lol - it’s around 3.5mm, maybe 3mm, I tied some fishing line to the end so it cut in and pulled it through the holes,
then pinched the plastic grippy bit from an old lanyard along with the bead and button thing (which tightens it, toggle is it?) and transferred those to the elastic - worked great!
