How many mm^2 in Samsung LH351D die Size ? And XPL2 or LH351D is better ?

I know XPL2 and LH351D is same Lumens output. But i don’t know which is better. So tell me which is better pls ! Thanks Everyone ! Good day !
(My English is bad, sorry)

351. Prettier color. Better CRI.

:+1: Me too. But there are also LH351D with a lower CRI value; have to watch what you buy. Digikey has 70, 80 and 90 CRI available

For me LH351D. Its all about those colors and keeping good output. I prefer shaved versus doomed. Better color and tighter hotspot.

XP-L2 seems to be able to reach higher brightness than LH351D.

Eg. The Sofirn SP36 comes in both 4x XP-L2 and 4x LH351D variants.

With single-LED XP-L2 and LH351D flashlights, the XP-L2 can also reach higher brightness (eg. new Astrolux S1 with XP-L2 or first version Sofirn SP32A with XP-L2 are very bright.)

However, XP-L2 LED produces a not-so-nice-looking beam (it has a yellowish corona), whereas the LH351D produces a more creamy smooth beam pattern.
LH351D is floodier (assuming single-LED reflector based)

SP36 (4x XP-L2) vs SP36 (4x LH351D)

another comparison:
(the 2 beamshots are taken with the same camera settings and similar distance from the ‘wall’, although taken at different times)

Sofirn SP32A and Wurkkos FC11 are very similar in terms of head/reflector size, difference is the LED used.

Sofirn SP32A v1 (XP-L2, “5250-5750k”)

Wurkkos FC11 (Samsung LH351D 5000k)

Do you think die size in LH351D is bigger than XPL2 ? I can’t find more infomation about die size in LH351D. Thanks you!

Generally, yeah, and they make nice big hotspots. Opposite of, say, white-flat.

Datasheet doesn’t list phosphor/LES size which is what I assume you mean to ask? Would guess at least 3x3mm since it appears to go almost to the edge of the die, harder to say for sure on a flip chip though.

Complete die itself is 3.5x3.5mm like XP-L, XP-G2/3, 219C, etc.

I have absolutely zero desire to buy or mod a light with an XP-L2. Lots of Cree rainbow/tint shift across the beam and not available in high CRI at color temps above 3000K AFAIK… maybe not even at or below that either. Minimal gains in throw and output compared to 351D.

9 mm²? No way.
Here’s a pic of it sliced:

I’d say between 4 and 5 mm².

Can’t get a good pic of mine sliced, but they look nothing like that. Phosphor is much closer to the edge of the die.

Are we sure OP in that thread didn’t actually receive LH351*C*?

Even my most low sliced ones have a thin layer polymer on them still though, so maybe that’s actually creating the illusion that the phosphor is larger than it is?

These are 351D’s, dedomed. One got bumped when hot and jumped off, so I sliced the other 2.

Wow, my eyes/perspective must be playing tricks on me with my 351Ds. Great pics!

Looks slightly smaller than XHP35 HI which is 5.32mm² according to keof3:

Old thread but maybe useful to note that I took pixel counting measurements of as many photos I could find of sliced 351Ds and the median area is 5.06mm^2.
