How many S2+'s do you have? Knockoffs Included.

So the S2+ has become the #1 go to flashlight. It’s cheap, effective, and powerful. There are several knockoffs available. So how many do you own?

I will start off. I own in the 20 range. Lost count. My favorite flashlight in terms of size and power. Looking forward to buying more.

I’m down to just two now. A black S2 with the Nichia UV emitter, and my red ‘rat rod’ S2+ with triple 219B sw45. Its tailcap is my avatar photo.

I’ve built some other S2 triples and had a couple of BLF A6 and Astrolux S1 models but sold them.

Here are mine. Not that many, but all came as hosts and modified. I also have a thing for lighted tail switches, so my options for different color hosts are limited. The only one that I’ve contemplated in the past, but decided not to get, is the copper version. Just couldn’t justify the price.

  1. S2+ black triple – Nichia 219B sw35 D200 L2 R9080 3500K LEDs – Panasonic NCR18650B – light blue (blue/green) Convoy switch bypassed

  3. S2+ gray triple – Luminus SST-20 FD2 95CRI 4000K LEDs – Samsung INR18650-35E – white Astrolux switch
  4. S2+ shorty – Nichia 219B sw30 D180 L2 R9080 3000K LED – Keeppower IMR18350 – aqua (blue/green) Convoy switch

  6. S2+ red triple – Nichia Optisolis SM503-P9-Rfc00 5000K LEDs – Sanyo NCR18650GA – light orange (orange/yellow) Convoy switch
  7. S2+ purple triple – Nichia Optisolis SM403-P10-Rfe00 4000K LEDs – Panasonic NCR18650B – light purple (pink/warm white) Convoy switch
  8. S2+ pink – quad Nichia E17A SM353-B11-R9080 3500K LEDs – Sanyo NCR18650GA – pink Astrolux switch

Hosts included? I could open up Convoy America…

I own three. A copper one, a black UV one with the filter, and a grey one.

I’ve recommended it to several people, its a great light.

I have two S2's and two S2+'s.

They're great lights for the money, but I never use them anymore.

Around a dozen I think… unused hosts not included.

EDIT to add…. Not exactly sure what a S2+ Clone is, but I don’t believe I have any.

Zero.
I have one S2, XM-L.
I have been considering buying an upgraded version.

That is a work of art

Zero. I built two triples a few years ago, but just for build fun, sold them quickly.

That reminds me...

I have an S2+ triple that I bought from someone on BLF.

I don't remember who, but I think they were in the U.S.

EDIT:

I bought it from Sprinkles in 2018 for very little money.

I EDC'd it until I got my FW3A.

Sadly only 2 left. Some parttimer stole my 1st S2+ and I end up buying these 2

A gray host with XML2 U4 0D with Convoy SST40 driver and blue lighted tailcap (My favorite daily driver) (Prolly a weirdo here for using extreme cool tint)
A blue host with triple XP-L Hi 3C and also Convoy SST40 Driver

My first was a gray S2+ with Nichia 219B SW45k triple driven by a BLF X5/X6 driver and blue lighted tailcap. That guy was well worn till it became similar like @goshdogit light

Yeah maybe I should buy more to assemble. It was fun to do

So is convoy the OEM for the S2+? In other words, do they all originate from the convoy factory and get rebranded later?

Are the knockoffs all the same or are there some quality differences?

I'm with you zoulas, I own in the 20+ range plus more in the S series (original S2, S3, etc). My favorite go to light for both size, EDC, lumen output, converting to triples, and gifting to others. Like you I've lost count. And they come in colors and I add lighted tail switches to match

had about half a dosen, but only have 2 left now, one with uv led, another is NW xml2 witth 18350 tube

One, just for curing UV glue.

These two.

Grey one has a 219C 4000K and smooth reflector, the black one has an SST20 2700K and 30º TIR optic.

I also have two non-+ S2’s, only one of which I use. (The other is a redundant with Biscotti from before I had a soldering iron to do a driver swap with.)

They all get used often for light painting photography.

That’s a simple but amazing photo!

I’ve enjoyed your light painting work since you began posting. Keep it up!
