The thing is, today I received my LED’s and I tried to test them with 2xCR2016 batteries on top of each other - nothing.
I then tried to test them on my headlamps battery pack that should deliver plenty of mA and V, 3.6 at least, again, nothing!
WTF am I doing wrong, I have definitely missed something here, I mean, arent these LED’s supposed to be “dumb” ones and just simply work when connected to power source :D?
Here are the LED’s in question, posted links in case youre interested, but the relevant specs are included right under my links, so no need to click them, there is no additional info available in listing detaisl over at Ebay:
Thanks the for your help, guess what? I think I already tried to check those LED’s both sides to make sure which is + and which is -….
Apparently I didnt, I checked it now and all of them WORK :D!
And also the thing is, those two of the batteries I used during first attempt also failed because they have glue residue on negative ends and thus there isnt enough friction between these two to let the current flow between them
How embarassing 8)
Luckily I remembered to check IR LED’s with my digital camera before shouting out that these are the only ones not working LOL
They are the weakest of the bunch tho and the least useful without James Bonds style IR perception goggles or something.
Interesting observation - red LED’s are equally as bright with either 3v or 6v, while the rest of LEDS are much dimmer, as expected, but didnt expect the red ones to be equally as bright.
Purple one is almost unusable given its specific tasks, its the darkest color of them all and given 5mm ugly beam… With 3V they can be barely seen when directly staring into them.
Green one is ok for close up work, bright enough even with 3V.
I should try to sand off the tips of my LED’s to improve the beam quality, make it cleaner.
Tried to do that with RED led - took some effort, now its pure flood, not bad, not sure which one I like better, original light pattern or this new floody one.
