How to revive "dead" NiteCore MT21a

Hi guys,

need a little advice:
I got a dead NiteCore MT21a that a colleague at work just wanted to throw away…
So I rescued the little beauty and am nor looking for a way to revive it.

I think the problem is with the driver/LED. Tailcap current reads 0.6A w/o giving any light.
So is there a 3rd market head that would fit the light? Or some way to replace the “electronics package”?

Many thanks!

Try to contact nitecore first if there is a solution.
Work for me with broken fuse I4 charger

Thanks! Already sent them an e-mail. Unfortunately:
“Our office will be closed for National holiday from Oct 1st to Oct 8th, service may have some delay during the holidays.”

So I thought I’d check for alternate possibilities while waiting for an answer

any sign of burnt areas?

worse come to worst you gotta swap the driver board (good luck opening the head)

No visual damage but the colleague said it smelled “like dying electronics” before it stopped working. As we are both SysAdmins I trust his verdict.

I hope to be able to avoid that :frowning: Let’s see if anyone has any other ideas…

IF it smelled like burned electronic there is no question, driver must come out, there is no other way to fix it…
P.S. Expect that driver is glued like it was with Smilodon that I repaired several weeks ago.
