Hallo..I have off topic ..We have deaf person in iur family and each morning-she is not able to wake up..Cell phone, radio…nothing…So i think about any high tech with vibration function…Something like vibration bracelet…Do you have any idea about thing like this…? Iam helpless.Thank you
I use the vibration function of an apple watch. That works fine. Should not be hard to find someone with an apple watch to try out. It does not need a function phone connected to work once set up for the [alarm function].
FWIW, I used to think they were pretty over the top for “a watch”. It’s a tool I now use routinely.
I previously had a fitbit clone with vibration. It works but the vibration is much milder (at least on that model), quits after a short time, so is much easier to miss.
Real fitbits or similar might be fine.
Another option might be one of those dawn lights that slowly turns up the brightness on an alarm setting.
You could also just set up a bedside light on a timer but turning on suddenly might be a bit harsh. That would be a personal thing.
Breakfast in bed doesn’t wake her?
That’s very similar to the fitbit clone I mentioned. There are likely many. Not very expensive to try out. The strength of the vibration may be the determining factor.
I have this usb powered alarm clock that has a vibrating puck you can mount to the bed frame near the pillow. With enough contact, that thing will vibrate the entire bed frame. If she is a heavy sleeper, this might not work, so you might have to strap it her arm or something.
**and if that doesn’t wake her, the alarm will wake one of you guys to go wake her.
This is the most common option I’ve heard of. Causes the whole bed frame to vibrate.
Just want to chime in as I work in fire alarms and often have to put measures in place to wake hard-of-hearing on fire alarm activation - we use “vibrating pillows”, which are actually vibrating pads or pucks that go under the pillow or onto the bed frame, often complimented with a flashing beacon on the bed-stand. Very effective.
When I was a freshman in college, I had a friend that was deaf in one ear.
He usually slept on his good ear, so it was difficult to wake him up with a loud noise.
I’m not sure how he woke up in time for his classes. ![]()
I have one of those, it makes getting up when it’s dark outside much more pleasant but it’s often not enough to wake me on its own, especially if I happen to be lying facing away from it.
iam afraid of the quality…

Jokes aside: the easiest is a smart watch/fitness tracker. Most of them have vibration alarm, and it’s a ready-made device that they can also use as a watch.
When I have to wake up quietly without waking anyone else I set my Garmin 5min earlier than my smartphone (which I keep as an alarm for fallback). So far the watch managed to wake me reliably.
Those are available for example from Philips:
I have the left one here and used it for some time - but I don’t need it, so I don’t use it anymore. But it was a very nice wake up!
You can also have some lSmart Lamps (like Ledvance Sun@Home) that you can tell to start at 1% brightness and 2000K at 7AM and go up to 100% brightness and 5000K or so at 7:30 or whatever.
But I think an alarm with a strong vibration motor could be the best option. I also found some who have vibration and strong flashing in addition.
Already solved by Colin:
Imagine the devices he could create if he teamed up with Simone Gertz.
