After going on a flashlight buying spree over the last couple of months and buying close to 15 lights in about 2 months, I have to say, my hands down favorite is the 5 mode UF-2100 I got from dinodirect.
It has the best combination of flood vs throw, it's bright as hell, incredibly compact and easy to pocket, and when I bought it the price was under 20 bucks delivered.
I've also acquired a KD C8 which has better throw but is not as floody and also not as compact or easy to pocket, a trustfire 2x18650 z1/z5 zoomable which is cool but I think the UF-2100 outperforms it, and a bunch of other lights like nebo redlines and the costco 3-pack which are great for AAA lights but overall, the UF-2100 outperforms them all for my needs. I also have a ton of keychain lights like an iTP A1, iTP A3, Fenix E05, etc... All great keychain lights but if I were going into the woods at night which I sometimes do, I'd take the UF-2100 and maybe the trustfire Z1/Z5 for it's very wide flood mode. The UF-2100 is also my regular dog walking light. Like I said, the KD C8 has a more focused throw but is also a little bulkier and not as easy to pocket.
So, what do I get next????? Kind of sucks not having the next "but I NEED this one more light...." light in mind.
I get the idea that you're half joking here, but half serious too; that "Ok, but where do I go from here?" feeling. I'm sure it won't last. New models, not to mention new technology, are coming so fast that before you know it you'll be raiding the piggy bank again
My problem is the opposite. I keep seeing "almost-perfect -but-not-quite" lights; your UF-2100 and Trustfire are good examples. You have a good eye, and I really like both of these lights - thanks for the heads up- but the 2100 has no anti-roll. Not a deal-breaker and yes, I'm being picky, but I find that feature so valuable that my "perfect" light would have to have it. The Trustfire is also very tempting; if it had a sideswitch and a splittable tube for optional single cell use I'd immediately buy two and pay a higher price. Just personal taste, of course, and I may yet pull the trigger on one/other/both(?) these excellent looking torches, but I suspect my search for the "Perfect" one will last a long time yet. However, you've proven that it can be done, so I shall keep looking
When I first saw those I wanted one very badly but I've since decided that I don't want any lights that use multiple 18650s. No multi lithium cell lights for me. Too much hassle.
Of course, I might change my mind tomorrow but for now, I'm perfectly happy with the single cell lights. Although I do have one multi cell light.
I like the uf-2100 .it's a nice light for the money .I just hate the body . one reason i like it is the no bad pwm ...It's generally the kind of light I like ..Simple straight tube ..it just needs a better build and real knurl .
Hard light to beat for the money .. you can't build one for the same money even if someone gives you the host.
the 15% code? I use a firefox plugin called priceblink that will tell you if there are any codes for the website you're on. It has a ton of websites in its database.
