I Dislike my Thrunite T30s

I own several Thrunite flashlights including the amazing TN31 and love the quality, UI and the aesthetics of these lights except for the T30s. The problem is visible PWM. I dislike low frequency PWM on the lower modes of any flashlight but this model has PWM on HIGH :open_mouth: . The other Thrunites I own don’t have obvious PWM in any mode so why oh why must they make this one with PWM in every mode. I fitted the tailcap of a Thrunite T30 and there is no PWM but just one mode and it is brighter too. I don’t know if it is a fault with the tailcap circuitry or if this is the way it is supposed to be. If anyone owns one of these can you confirm if this is a fault or normal. Either way I will be converting this to a one mode light with no PWM in the near future.

Paul, you are right. I have the TN10, T30 and T30S. PWM does not bother me, so I used my camera to see if it's there. The first two have mild PWM on medium, none on high. The T30S has PWM in all three modes, including High. Surprising.

I would not recommend the T30S over the regular T30. The location of the side switch on the T30S is cumbersome at best and there's the annoying strobe mode. I prefer the simplicity of the T30.

I just checked out my T30s, and I can’t notice any strbing from pwm. Maybe you were unlucky and got a faulty one. I will check it out with a fan later to make sure

I agree. The T30 is so simple to use and the T30s is a step in the wrong direction IMHO. But I bought it for $40 with a free Ti so it could be worse.

Ha! Quite a few of us were drawn to the Thrunite sales binge back in November/early December. I paid $45 for mine with a blue Ti. The TN10 was around the same time for $40.

Why arent lights that cost so much all current controlled?
