I kind of like the cheap DSLR camera I got at Christmas, but I’m not sure if I want to take any more close ups of my emitters… Here is the XM-L in my Eagletac D25C clicky. There’s a brown spot and some tiny dirt specks or something. A cool thing though is how the surface looks like it is yellowish with purple areas… what is that?
Also, you don’t realize how cruddy the lens gets in your pocket…
Or even how hard it is to get it completely clean after washing it off…
But I can hopefully get some good pics now. I frequent zoos and my wife has a cupcake business and I can’t wait to take some pics of those Here are some better pics of the D25C as I try to figure this thing out.
In my experience, those little brown spots on the dome are flux splatter from them soldering the leads to the pads. They should pick/wipe off easily.
As for the bluish purple areas on the lit emitter, it looks like inconsistent phosphor coating on the emitter. If you were to dedome an emitter and accidentally take some of the phosphor off of the die in the process it would look just like that. That is the first pic I've seen of that with the dome still on the emitter.
