X3
It is very light.
weight: 0g …
Very nice!
price is impressive, very.
1-mode light?
30g without battery, wow.
i think my Worm 2012 SS beats it in every category .. except for price ;)
Far too underpowered for me………50lm……
I like this light, I want this light.
No 2,3 mode?
I don’t like this light :weary:
Looking forward to seeing an AA light from Solarforce!
It’s a good looking light but with just 1 mode I wouldn’t want it. Must have at least two to be practical for EDC use.
I’m waiting to see Foy’s review of it since we all know he will be getting it.
HA! True Dat. Has he picked up the M3 yet?
Nice looking light, but I agree on the modes. Also shiny stainless looks nice... when it's shiny. As an edc it just gets all smudged up. I'm waiting for the Black/Grey/Sand/Blue HA versions (with 2 modes).
The X2 (AA) will release at the same time as this X3 (AAA). But its just an upscaled version of the X3 and still only outputs 100lm. Pathetic compared to the new AA Balder which gives almost 156lm on AA or almost 450 !!! on a 14500…….
Thanks… I found it in a thread here on BLF as well… the new AA…
I hoped it to be a little different.
Well, 23 bucks for SS, quality(?) light… not bad add 1 mode more (low) and SF will sell 300-400% more units.
The 1 mode is kinda disappointing but I just happen to be in the market for a AAA light and thought "eh I'll try it"
Also ordered the M3 head at the same time. And let the wait begin.
I used to prefer one mode but there are many times that a small edc light like this needs to be used in a car to read map or find something and high only is too bright. You don’t need to be flash blinded while night driving. There are times when too bright is just as bad as too dim.
Well, a low mode is, or started to be, almost necessary because of new hi power leds (i.e. CREE), so even AAA lights are, in most closeup situations, too bright (when on MAX)
Yep, single mode rules it out for me. Nice looking though.
Well, at least the X2 has a low mode.
The X2 is a POS, the most disappointing AA light I’ve ever owned. The X3 is OK for a single mode light, the X2 has the worst threads of any light I’ve ever owned, they are so sloppy they make mode changing very unpredictable, the modes are poorly chosen, 30 Lumens to 100 Lumens in a two mode light isn’t a big enough difference, maybe it should have been 10 and 100.
Total waste of twenty bucks. Looks a million dollars performs like shite.
How and why??? :~
In practice, single mode lights are always a compromise. Make that single mode too bright, and in certain circumstances it works against you. Make it too dim, and the same is true. Whichever way you slice it, even if it’s somewhere in the middle (whatever that means), there’s a lack of utility when compared to multi-mode lights.
Whether the absence of this utility is an issue for you or not depends on the collection of circumstances you typically find yourself needing a flashlight in.
