Can anyone identify this driver? I’m coming up short trying to find out what it is. Also, what are the chips labeled “3400”? Are these linear regulators? I like the UI that came on this driver but it only pulls 2.4-2.5 at the tail. Would love to increase the output or figure out the firmware so it can be modified (not in my wheelhouse, just yet) and used on a different driver. Thanks, in advance!
I’m glad that I’ve seen that driver before, pretty vague picture
Ok, those two large resistors left and right on top of your driver are current limiting resistors for the two small FET’s in between (so this is not a lineair driver, but a direct driver with current limiting resistors). I can not read the values of the resistors because of the poor image quality, but you can try halving them (i.e. by soldering the same value resistors on top of them) and see how much the current has increased. If I remember well you can not fully bypass the resistors because the user interface starts acting funny then.
I quite like that driver because of the good current you can get out of it and the high frequency PWM it uses.
Hey, djozz! Thanks for the quick reply! I uploaded pretty large pictures and linked the thumbnails on accident. I’ll re-upload after I run some errands.
So those are 0.14 Ohm resistors, try to find some of those to stack them, or even 0.05 Ohm ones. But they are difficult to find (or rob them from another driver).
I wonder if bypassing both resistors would increase the current close to direct drive or if I would just fry something. If I knew where to get more of these I would have tried it already instead of asking first, lol.
Update. I stacked a .051 Ohm resistor on each of the existing resistors and pulled a respectable 3.6-3.8 amps at the tail. Been running for over 5 minutes on high without any issues so far. Thanks for the help, guys!!
