Was going to be my response. A good all-rounder that will run on various cells. The angle-head version seems it could also substitute.
The AA formfactor is arguably the local minimum of user-replaceable cells. Alkaline cells are widely available and cheap. Lithium primary cells will perform a notch better and easily standby for a decade. NiMH easily switch-hits for primary cells without the logistics. 14500 offers a performance edge.
You’re not going to easily extract multiple kilolumens with the AA format but I find I so rarely need such capability.
Some of the highest output on a NiMH, up there with a Tool AA. Of course, the 14500 is better for output with both lights. And, Nitecore or Sunwayman headband makes it a headlamp.
Novatac 120T on a 17670 body (brass strip insert to use an 18650, bought from a member on another forum who had modded it with a Nichia 519 in 4000k. Max lumens is probably in the 600-800 lumen range, but I’ve configured it to default to around 60(+/-10) lumens.
