Ikea Ladda < Eneloop quality

Couple years ago I bought a few 4 packs of Ladda cells from Ikea, and used the first 4 in a B&D scrubber (great little device). Like many gadgets I used it a lot at first, then only rarely, then today gave it a good workout until performance started to drop and I pulled the batteries and stuck them in my LaCrosse charger. Cell voltage varied more than I think it should have given the on/off all or none of the cells in use in the scrubber. Voltage measured from a high of 1.21, 1.15, 1.14, and 0.91. Charging at 200ma the 0.91 immediately went up to about 0.05 above the other cells, and half an hour or so later still charging all the cells were close to the same voltage.

I plan to do more testing, but seems like one cell isn’t very good, and two aren’t quite as good as the best.

Had the same with some Eneloop XX

Are these the white (FDK) IKEA Laddas, or the older versions? Very happy with my Ikealoops - very consistent (in fact they often terminate charge within a few seconds of each other).

Green and silver, AA 2000 mahr (older I know, but my flawless Eneloops are older still). During recharge the .91 jumped up and remained the highest voltage, and the 1.21 the lowest and last to show full.

My trouble/weakness, is that I don’t recycle a cell until its almost dead dead, and I only keep frequently used devices with batteries in them, so I have a dozen or so medium to moderately weak batteries. My La Crosse charger doesn’t test very well, often showing 0 mahr on a cell I can put in a flashlight and have it work fine for an hour. I haven’t tested much with my Lii500, but I don’t recall being happy with testing with it either.

The older ones (green silver) are not eneloop equivalents. So I don't quite get this thread's title ;)

News to me, but I haven’t been paying attention lately.

Are they those?

Not all IKEA rechargeable batteries come from Japan.

They’re all over the map, actually.

If they are the older Green and Silver versions then that explains the issues. They are pretty average NiMH in considerably inferior to FDK made NiMH such as the newer White versions of the IKEA Ladda.

The green and silver Ladda are made in China by BYD. Considering they cost less than $1 a piece I think they were a great value cell.

These are old, made in China, and cost about $6 for a pack of 4 as I recall. I posted about them now as its the first “event” with them since purchase. I still have two packs I haven’t opened.

When I did buy them the discussion here was that they were like Eneloops, or I would not have bought them.
