RMM is great to work with. I’ve purchased multiple items from his store. He’s also built me custom flashlights. All have been great. I can recommend him 100%.
I have DQG in NW. It’s my ATF (All Times Favs). Compact, bright enough with great beam pattern and tint. Modes are well spaced and hidden turbo will bring a smile to your face. You can easily run it with real high powered 26650 or the lowly 18650 laptop pull. It still functions just fine. Design is attractive.
This post however is rather one sided. I don’t own any SRK or M6 variants. So I can’t compare.
I am planning on buying one from RMM when my wallet is ready again.
I have to also suggest the M6 over your SRK choices above. Much higher quality light all the way around and a better beam profile than an SRK. The SRK's and clones have weak (at best) to terrible pill to body thermal paths. You have to do a good amount of work to correct that issue. The M6 has more throw than the SRK's. For a few bucks more, it's a no brainer.
The Kung (4 emitter version) does have a very nice beam profile in its own right though. If you are wanting to mod yourself and don't mind the challenge, the Kung has lots of potential.
I would highly recommend DQG triple neutral white. It is an almost perfect light in stock form. It also just use one 26650 cell. Much smaller than the other two and fits in your pocket easily. It is also really powerful for one cell at about 2000lumens.
The only down side I can think of is the way to turn it off. You need to hold the button for 3 seconds to turn it off. It would be a perfect light if it is one second to turn off.
I didn’t really like the look of the m6 originally but I might be getting caught up in the SRK hype. I guess I really don’t like the look of the SRK now that you mention it. A gold light?
OK M6 or DQG?
Helios, I did not notice ima4wheeler’s extra eye either. It’s kinda creepy now that you mentioned it.
ImA4wheeler, thanks for the input. I’m too inexperienced for a big job (Kung). I just ordered a couple of drivers and misc. parts from Richard for my first mod on a two cheapies I got for Christmas plus a crapload of stuff off Amazon, Ebay and Intl outdoors including 6 lights. I really don’t need any more work before I know if I can do the work.
Don’t forget the S3triple XPG on a FET. I have an M6 in the assembly que and plan to build or buy one of his little triples as soon as I stop buying other stuff, starting projects and forgetting to finish yadda, yadda. In all honesty, the best light is the one that is on you. Therefore I submit that the S3 Triple XPG that is not offered on a FET but should be.
I have the SRK Kung and let me tell you, I really, really really want the M6. SRK is OK, but the threads are not anodized, which I believe the M6 they are, and also, the M6 looks like a high quality flashlight IMO, especially if I was to compare pics to my SRK!
Heck, just looking at the M6 makes my mouth drool....
Just look at this image from Just Jim. SRK looks like cheap painted Aluminum. The M6, quality looks almost like my TM26! Don't get me wrong, the SRK is a good light, and I really like mine, but the M6 is killing it!
M6 pushing 3000+ Lumens stock or 4000+ lumens modified, get outta here!!! No comparison!
I don’t have a good way to measure. The number is from two things.
My DQG triple takes around 6.7A on turbo for 3 XPG2. According to Match’s measurement (hell Match got tons of references. He would have made a professor of flashlights if there is such a thing. :D), they each give around 650Lumens. That is about 2000lumens.
Also I compared it with my DRY which should be 2400 lumens at full. It is as bright visually.
I think the 1250 lumens estimation is way too low. That is from venders I think here . Not sure what battery they used to test it. On turbo it is direct drive. So the samsung 20R or 25R is the key.
Also I suspect the 3B tint on Banggood is not accurate. It is warmer than 3B. Might be 4B or 5B. Great tint IMO.
Mostly for fun. I will keep it in my backpack when mtn biking at night along with a walk late in the evening. In other words fun first, safety second. And the most important, to drive my kids crazy over my dorky fascination with bright shiny things.
Interesting to see those side by side. Even looking at the dimensions I imagined the SRK to be much wider than the M6. Good comparison pic. Thanks blfdemigod.
The above pic in blfdemigod's post gives a good idea of the differences. The M6 also feels much more solid and better in hand. I would replace all my SRK's with M6's if I could turn back the clock. If size and weight are not issues for you, I say go M6. The xml will belt out a lot more light. You won't regret it.
If they are issues, then go with the DQG.
My avatar does look a bit creepy now that you guys mention it. The actual uncropped picture is pretty cool. The dog in the foreground is just checking out the camera.
