I didn’t think PP3 batteries leaked, until this weekend. >.< The plastic casing of this battery was cracked and stained, so I opened it up to find this:

I’ve never had anything ruined by an alkaleak. But then on general principles I prefer not to use disposable batteries at all. There is one device in my house that can only use alkies. Unfortunately it uses AAAs and kills them in a week or two - NiMH last 3 days.
The few devices that get alkies put in them (Basically one remote and one clock) get them replaced annually whether I’ve used them or not.
Just discovered 2 (of the 6) AA Duracells leaked and swelled up in a 2 year old label-maker. Luckily, the corrosion powder residue simply blew out w/ a quick puff. Now I think I’ll load it w/ either Eneloops or Lithium primaries…
I’d go for the Eneloops. Especially in a label maker it doesn’t seem necessary to use Li-Ion and it might even be damaged by the high current.
