Another thing, most flashlights today are rated using the ansi-fl1 system. They allow the runtimes to be measured from full battery to 10%. Most companies will rate their small, but powerful lights as a constant time, like turbo 3,000 lumen for 170 minutes. This is misleading and most of the time impossible. Usually it will run on turbo for a minute or 2 then drop down to a lower level to finish the timed run. You have to be aware of that.
A few companies like Olight will list accurate specs like “3000 then 1000 turbo” will show “2+150 minutes”. Meaning it will run at 3000 lumen for 2 minutes then drop to 1000 for another 150 minutes. They are not legally required to be this specific, but they try to be upfront and honest.
It doesn’t mean the other brands are dishonest, though. You just need to read reviews so you know what your getting.
I personally like these new small lights that can get crazy bright for short durations. It’s very handy.
