Hello! Migrated here from r/flashlight, I kinda accidentally bought both a v1 and v2 on reddit(won both offers). Should I leave the xhp35 in the v1? I have no intention of modifying the v2.
I used to have a TN42 V1 and it never really got warm with the XHP35 Hi. I always thought you could put a slightly more potent LED in it and get better sustained output.
But, since you already have the V2 (which has more sustained output), maybe you should instead think about choosing a warmer CCT LED to further differentiate it from the V2. I could see it as a dedicated pencil-beam fog light.

I intended on having one in my offshore bag when I captain for lighting up everything forward, the warmer CCT was definitely the plan. The xhp35 is 12v only right? Was curious if anyone had any information on emitters that die/dome worked best with the reflector.
There might be a bin of XHP35.2 Hi that would be suitable. (having a good tint etc) @ArtieT59 ?
Yes, it is 12v only, and there aren’t any 3535 12v LEDs that come to mind beyond the XHP35 and 35.2
You could use an XHP35.2HI, it is new production so they are available, but they’re not as nicely tinted. Another option is to buy a 3000k XHP35HI from aliexpress, a seller called “shenzhen silver ingot” has it available, but there is a big markup and quite long wait for shipping.
I think the best LED, it is my favorite LED, SBT90.2 is in my Modified TN42.
You have more lumens and more throw. More than double the lumens. I think xhp35 is about 2,000 lumens, that was my first one . CFT90.2 Is 5000

Maybe one of the Osram flavors?
That wouldn’t work on the V1 without a new driver, the osrams are 3V and XHP35 is 12v
There’s a couple pretty damn good bins of xhp35 HI on kaidoman right now, if you like warm white
