Howdy folks. I completed an in-depth review of my recently bought AcBeam L19. I want to point out that I’m not posting this video for any other reason than it might help other out.
- my channel is not monetized
- I don’t have affiliate links with AceBeam
- I bought the light with my Ken money, because I wanted it!
I don’t car about subs or click counts on my content
So with that amount of the way, see this as a written review except I chose to film it instead.
Hope you find it interesting!
This is probably true. Especially when you compare it to the K1 green, which is $89. But I guess instead of feeling like the L19 is too expensive, I focus on how cheap the hanklight is.
Also the drivers are better in the Acebeam, fully regulated, as opposed to FET. But to your point, that is like maybe $10 difference.
I think L19 is like $150 right now, and the K1 with boost hx is like $90? Although I don’t like the idea of paying $150 for a flashlight, I think the $50 difference is justified, especially when considering the quality, warranty, accessories, and the fact it has a constant current driver and no complicated Anduril.
The main things to consider with this light when justifying the price…
Fully regulated driver for consistent output and runtimes. No FET or 7135 to waste energy as heat
Great heatsinking. Never got over 70 C even on extended turbo runs, and the temp regulation works great (no rollercoaster behavior)
Warranty is awesome
Quality construction, it’s well made and lots of attention to detail and Acebeams finish is one of my favorites. This is a pro-level light
Great performance 1300+ m throw from a 60mm head. Name another non-lep that can do that.
Now, if all those are really important to you, then you’d pay for that, but if you’re willing to trade a few of those aspects, then go with a cheaper options.
But the L18 is $79.90 and can be had for less. Is this really double the light? Same overall architecture, 10mm larger head… not adding up to me. I get that it’s an extremely well done light on all fronts (other than the extra long battery), but somebody is going to really have to show me where that extra $$ is going
I have the L18 also, and they are different in several ways. The driver is tweaked a bit for higher output, it’s a Boost HX not a W2 for better thermal and power efficiency, there’s more heat sinking and I like the design better. The optic is bigger and a different design for more throw. Other than those, the UI is the same, same 21700 battery. I guess it comes down to the extra throw, better thermal management (the L18 got up to almost 80 C when I tested it vs around 60 C for the L19), and more throw. If those don’t matter, get the L18 s9nce it’s a great light also. You can swap the W2 in the L18 for the boost hx if you want also since the head comes apart (no glue) for a bit more output.
i love my (1)acebeam, the k75. I don't doubt they're quality for a minute after owning the k75, and a I know a regulated driver is not a buck/boost driver. But... Convoy man. Convoy makes light cheaper than Hank and acebeam, that throw green I'm sure 1300 meters (62mm head) and doesnt over heat too. It's hard to spend $125 + when the L21a with green cslpm1 can be had for under $50. I had the CULPM1 version and turbo ran for minutes, there's a review on here where the blf member got something like 9 or more minutes regulated at around 1500 lumens on the L21a with CULPM1.. i know acebeam has more to offer in driver hardware and finish, but still..
But I get what you're saying, if you want the cheaper option just buy it, but some cheaper lights are hard to deny. The L21a in any of its configurations is one of them. Of course, it is HEAVY. I don't know about the L19, I'm sure it's not.
