Looking for a very wide beam, if possible with hidden strobe.
Single band, light. 18350 or AA max. Does not to has be super bright.
A Wall of light for 200 feet. That gives me time to react.
I can’t get my TR10 out of high beam. Besides, it’s too much throw.
Your help will be highly appreciated.
It’s a really great video if you’d consider one of the smallest 18650 headlamps I’ve ever owned. It’s smaller than the SP40, has really cool usb charging and about the best wide beam I’ve used on a headlamp.
He compares three other popular headlights including the SP40 which I also own. I prefer the D25S as it is lighter, has a single headband that is very comfy, and runs for years on Panny Bs.
Look into using a better 3500ish mAh 18650. The Sofirn battery isn’t bad but I’ve never seen it tested so current output is the unknown (but they do hold the stated 3k mAhs of charge per my charger’s reading)
For better run time I use the Panny B (5 amps), but probably better to use a battery with a few more amps of continuous output if your running in the highest mode on a bike and need the range.
In that case, I’d look at the Sanyo 50ga (10 amps) or Samsung 35e (8 amps). Both are 3500ish capacity batteries, but will have less voltage drop when pushed at higher levels.
Last thing… the headband holder for the light does feel cheap at first. But mine has never slipped off it’s set spot; and I’ve taken it through some brush (hunting pigs at night) with no issues. I think you’ll like the weight too.
The D25s was my second choice for a headlamp. I went with the D10 (single led version) because it’s easier to modify (more mod options). The D25s is good as-is for 95% of people. Use a high capacity battery for the best runtime. I use Sanyo 18650GA. 2 sst40’s on the h9ghest setting will drain batteries pretty fast.
Yesterday, it rained most of the day, so at night there was plenty of water in the trail.
So the ride was short. Maybe 20 mins.
I’m not going to play the lumens game. The light is very good for its intended use,
The tint is excellent. Almost like a 5000k Nichia.
The battery is sufficient for what I’ll do. I hate turbo.
Even if this one can take it for a long time.
Practically no heat, especially when riding and is refreshed by the breeze.
The only thing I couldn’t live with was the headband.
I bought a 2-pack Coasts 400 lumens Super Wide angle. For 19.95 at Home Depot.
Good for most anything you need to fix. I have one in my car, and so does my wife.
Now, the one in my wife’s car is wearing the Sofirn headband.
The Coast headband is not only prettier, it’s way more comfortable.
It’s also reflective. Win-Win-Win.
I’m more than happy with this light now.
And the final price was a true budgetlight deal. sb would have been proud of me.
Light was 25.99. Free shipping. Minus a 2.00 vendor coupon.
Amazon gave me 10 bucks for a 100 reload.
And I get 5% for using the card. You do the math.
I ordered Friday night and it arrived Saturday at 3:00 PM. 16 hrs delivery.
