A boys dream come true is what Wurkkos seems to go for with the HD01. I got my hands on the manual and give the specs right here:
Ohhh, I can’t wait for you to blow it up!
I literally have my disco ball out and ready. I can’t wait to get it and review it!
Thanks for the review, just received mine today, so far , very satisfied. Build quality looks
as good as any of my other lights. I do see a little bit of the artifacts on the laser but again,
no worse than others I have and that bright green beam really penetrates the darkness.
Wishing it had a replaceable battery but, as I stated in another post, I watched a youtube video
on this light where the host removed the clip then, by using a strong magnet, was able to remove
the lights tail magnet which exposed the battery so, maybe it can be changed. Will not try it under
warranty but something to remember in the future.
Can you link this video? Interested in featuring it in my review.
Sorry, just got your reply but it looks like Markus already has it. I will tell you one thing, I also have the
Trustfire Mini X3, the laser on the HDO1 is at least 2-3 times brighter than the one on the Mini X3.
I while I do like the mini X3 for the UV option because here in the desert, having UV is very useful,
it’s nice to be able see where scorpions are before you either step or sit on one. The white light output
on the HD01 is also brighter than that of the X3. The X3 only has high where the HD01 has turbo.
@AZdesert Thank you for your explanation. I saw the Trustfire as well but had it not in hand. I still use the HD01 a lot indoor on my shifts, it really offers useful lighting solutions and some toy qualities and handles well. For something with good UV and for harder outdoor exploration (scorpions!) I just uploaded this video with a very interesting flashlight option:
I love the WK30, too, but the OG version with “regular” red and 395nm UV.
“Photo” red is okay but not as bright to the eye (ie, you need a more powerful beam for the same visual brightness).
And visual spill from 395nm is dim purple, vs the eerie greenish-gray or pale blue like from 365nm, even with “low leakage” emitters. A ZWB2 filter is optional with 395nm but absolutely mandatory with 365nm.
The WK40’s nice, too, if you can deal with regular blue. No idea if scorpions also fluoresce under blue light, but some goodies do.
