Hello. Welcome to the BLF community! A go-to recommendation here would be the FC11C. Make sure to get the FC11C and not the old FC11. The new version has a better LED and a more efficient driver. You can buy it at wurkkos’s official website or their aliexpress store. The flashlight costs $21.99 with a battery before any cupons. You can choose from multiple colors too. They are currently running their 5th year anniversary sale, so you might be able to get a good deal on it.
Thanks for joining the gang, bobbyb427!
I would recommend a compact Sofirn or Wurkkos flashlight with a side switch and one that’s USB-C chargeable.
Some of them have simple user interfaces, and some of them are dirt cheap.
Lumintop tool aa v2, ~$20, takes AA too but can use 14500.
If they can handle usbc, any of the $10-20 lanterns that have good run times.
Some lanterns take D batteries and very long run times.
Personally, i have 3 wurkkos and would also recommend them. I also own the ZMNT Lantern have used more than a week for lighting(low to med) evry night without a charge. If you go with rechargeable, get a decent quality power bank(~20000mah, recc iniu) for recharging lights and phones.
I replaced my elderly mom’s with a Sanyo NCR18650GA (3500 mAh, 10A CDR) when I gave her the F11 a couple of years ago. There’s nothing wrong with the Wurkkos cell, but the less often she has to charge it up the better, and in a case where the power goes out, I want the light to last as long as possible. (I’d give her a BLF LT1, but she wouldn’t want one. Severely tech-challenged.)
A bit against the grain here, but if you can get hold of an Acebeam EC50 gen2, you’d get a Hell of a light.
Simple on/off side-clicky, micro rechargeable, though, decent floody beam, and bigger 26650 for an easier grip of they got arthritic hands, plus assloads of capacity. Price is a bit higher, though, but it’s worth it.
(Dunno the gen3 or how it’s different from the gen2. Maybe someone who has one can chime in.)
The side-button is sooooooo easy to press, almost no force needed. Silver, so easy to see where it is.
UI is simple on/off, hold to cycle through LMH. No blinkies, no shortcuts, no multiclicks. Simplicity itself…
