I recommend a small SK68 for a big 6-year-old. I somehow feel it will tolerate more handling by a 6 year old than a G7. :)

I have a 6 year old, 7 and 9 year old kids and they all love using Dads flashlights, including his big and expensive ones as well! I have about 6 flashlights that belong to them that they can use at any time which is heaps of fun for them.
On many nights we'll go outside and look for frogs, toads, owls, possums and the occasional snake! (Not deadly ones). Enjoy this hobby with Grandpa and when you get your own flashlights, make sure you look after them real well!
Something else you should notice Jeremy is all the different places around the world who are responding to you. I'm in Australia, and I can see some of the other people above come from places like Scotland, Denmark, Hawaii and Croatia. You're talking to people all around the world!
