Is Blue Loctite OK for Threads?

I have a stainless steel AAA Convoy that routinely needs to be tightened. I have a stick of blue Loctite that I’ve used on knife pivots that don’t want to stay put. I’m guessing a single dab in one spot would be sufficient. Is there anything I need to know before I do it?

Not really. You don’t need a ton of it, just a dab will do.

Perhaps a piece of Teflon tape will hold it in place….

There also a purple version of Loctite that might suit this application. It’s meant to prevent adjustable parts from moving during normal operation without fully locking like the blue does.

It is easy to over do. Try a very small dab at first, unless you’re not worried about unscrewing whichever joint you’re referring to in the future…

My experience with various size fasteners is even with a wrench it can be difficult to break blue loctite. As noted, purple is easier, but even with that it can be difficult in some circumstances.

beware that it may not actually be backing off.
you might be compressing the board.
make sure you can remove/overcome whatever you use.

Does it not have an o-ring?
