Is it possible to add a SEARCH bar to Chrome?

Hi all,

Being forced to downgrade from firefox to Chrome so I can use extensions I need. Is it possible to have a separate search bar in chrome like this.

In firefox if I use that bar for a search like “High power flashlights” and then open a new tab the data is retained in the bar so that I can change only one word and quickly do a second search like “high brightness Flashlights” without having to retype the whole thing. I just looked for like an hour and kind find a way to do it :frowning:

If you click the star character shown at the end of the address window (AFTER your completed query), that will let you save the query as if it were an address. It can be saved to a folder or directly on the Bookmark Bar itself for future re-use.

When you want to use the search term again, just click from the Bookmark and change the terms that appear in the search bar.

If there are extraneous characters in your saved search/Bookmark itself, just point at the that Bookmark, then right-click and edit out any details.

I could use something similar for Opera, so a Chromium-based extension would probably work for me.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find one though.

This may also help.

After you complete your query. When you open a new tab, position your cursor over the new search bar and Left-click to be presented with the history of your previous searches, any of which can be re-used.

I added in mine and it keeps the search text, so in the next time you just need to replace the “middle” word (I used your examples).

Okay, I have to apologize.

I thought people were talking about a find box for finding text on a website.

A search box is something completely different.

I want a find box that works well in Opera, but I don't think that it exists.

Not quite what you asked but maybe better: If you have the latest Chrome and search for something. Once you click on a result a Google G appears in the top left which shows the search and results without leaving the page

in chrome, you can just type what you want to look for, directly in the address bar/box

it can tell the difference between “i am looking for info on XYZ ”, and “take me to xyz.com”
