Is lux cummulative?

Let's say you have two lights that each put 3 lux on a target. If both are on the target simultaneously, will there be 6 lux on the target?

As I understand it that is true, but if you had one light that throws 3 meters and then add a second one with an identical lux reading it would not throw 6 meters.

As I understand things, yes lux additive but throw is an inverse square function. It takes 4 times the lux to throw twice as far. That is if my understanding is correct.

Good question, I used to think about this before.

I think yes the lux does add up. I do not know any theory or calculation to back that up though, but just thinking of why Fenix TK70 can throw that well 8)

Decibels are a logarithmic measure, lux is linear, so it adds up indeed.

However the perceived brightness usually is logarithmic, so it won’t seem twice as bright.
