Is the Acebeam 18650 battery a rewrap?

Is the Acebeam 18650 battery just a rewrap of the Sony VCT6? Why do some sites show it able to charge with a microusb but the official site doesn’t? Has this changed?

You are showing links to different batteries. An 18650 and a 21700. They are different

Acebeam doesn’t manufacture batteries as far as I know and it would be bloody expensive r&d making an 18650 that good so it definitely is a rewrap. Of what… probably a VTC6 is my guess.

Flashlight manufacturers don't manufacture LiIon cells. Acebeam, Imalent, Nightcore and other cells are rewraps. Same with Vapcell, Keepower, Efest, etc.

The people who manufacture the cells are Sanyo, Panasonic, LG, Sony, etc.

They probably rewrapped and added something which allows the battery to charge via micro usb?

I had no idea it was possible to do this

Yup, they added some kind of charging chip/circuit that makes contact with both the positive and the negative pole when they are side by side at the top of the cell.

How would the VCT6 compare to NCR18650GA?

The 18650 with micro USB (comes with the L17, L16) is probably a vtc6 or 30Q. I’m guessing the latter, but I’m not sure. I compared it to a real vtc6 and it easily pulled 11A while the vtc6 did 14A.

Very different. You can compare them here: Battery test-review 18650 comparator
