Is there any new high capacity 18650 battery coming soon?

Since last year 3500mAh on a 18650 battery has been the top (or I have seen rewrap of 3500 Sanyo GA to 3600mAh, funny since the GA battery actually is a 3350/3400 battery). I know the focus has been on higher Amps, and such I understand things, high Amps do not go well with high capacity.
Still, is there any news about 18650 (and/or 26650) with higher capacity then 3500mAh and 5500mAh on the 26650?

Of course you have the soon one million mAh Ultrafire battery…but I’m talking about the more normal factories like Panasonic, Sony, Sanyo, LG, Samsung and so on. Not thinking about wrappers here like Efest, Basen, Keeppower etc etc

Or will the industry concentrate on higher and better Amps also this year?

The easiest answer is just to use Multiple Cells if you need longer runtimes.

If your light can support multiple cells yes. But really not the answer on what I’m asking about.

A couple of years Panasonic had announced that they had a laboratory 4000 mah battery but that one hasn’t seen production yet.

(Of course it’s false, just in case you actually believe it)

one zero too many if your lucky….

Group Buy?

We have the technology to make higher density thus higher capacity cells, the problem is lowering the costs of production to keep the watts/dollar ratio reasonable. Most 18650 are used to build packs where weight is not an issue, so instead of using higher capacity cells they just add more cells instead.

Good information there will34

We may see a higher capacity battery come out towards the end of this year according to many manufacturer’s release schedule. They plan these things with a timeline about 5 years in advance. Partners will receive samples long before release.
