Jacob A60 OUT OF STOCK

The setup I’m running with a dedomed xpe2 is using the clear xpg to xml (slightly sanded on the bottom) under the stock insulator. This reflector has to be fairly far away from the LED I’ve found. Be careful to not over-tighten the bezel/head and distort the reflector.

Ok, thats good.

I was worried the reflector needed to be very close, and that would make the wide base of the reflector problematic to fit, 18awg wires on the 20mm xp Noctigon that i have already sanded for a tight pressfit.

As it is now when the head is fully screwed together as far as it will go, there is maybe 1-2mm of room between the reflector & mcpcb surface.

I am not sure i dare to try the switch mod i wanted to do now when they are all gone, because if it fail it may damage the switch board retaining ring in the process.

I was thinking it may be possible to fit the 6A Ebay switch, if i drilled or filled a grove in to the retaining ring so the switch ground would be connected & locked together with the retaining ring & they both screwed down together.
BUT it is a very tight fit so it may not be possible at all.

JarredM, i had those centering rings in my shopping cart at fasttech, but i had forgot to order them :frowning: i hope i can manage without, otherwise i will have to wait a bit to finish it

I got that Jacob replacement, Jing Ge A60 : mine came with a charger
Since i ordered a HK post shipping and they sent it via China post maybe it was somekind of a compensation of some sort, who knows

Came with a box well packed, in 2 weeks : so the good news ends here

The glass needs to be replaced, but thats not its main issue

Thats one of the worst reflectors and hotspots i have ever seen

Otherwise that fl have a potential, but with a good reflector, this one isnt good at all

How strange yours came with the charger, mine didn’t. Not that i would want it anyway.

Did you order from the listing in the OP?

I just did a search for Jacob A60 on ali, this came up
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Jacob-A60-Cree-XR-E-Q5-310lm-3-Mode-18650-LED-Longshot-White-Light-Flashlight/2023201944.html

It is not the A60 clone, but the Cofly with a built in charger & i think e-switch, but that is as close we can get to the old A60, now that the Jing Ge A60 clone is gone.

Actualy it came with a battery too, yes, from the original 1st post

If of course you can call this “4800ma beauty” a battery…… and so for the charger …

Yes, i saw thats its gone too, gone for good i might say

Cajampa, you said something about the centering rings. I’ll have to look but I think I dedomed the XR-E’s in my A60’s and used the metal ring glued to one of the think plastic XP spacers to keep it centered.

Afaik that’s your standard A60 beam profile. I swapped out the stock emitter for an xpe2 on noctigon for some improvement. They throw very well for the price, but wont be winning any white wall beamshot contests. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmm, i am not sure what you mean by “the metal ring” from where? the A60? And on plastic XP spacers, do you mean the butterfly ones or the small round spacer.

I used this

And the metal ring that holds the dome from this

You got very nice CHUANYUEZHE 4800mah battery here

Ok i got you now, thanks n10sivern

And i have those already, do you think the metal ring would work to get a good focus with a XP-G2 also?

And extra thanks for getting me to notice, the “gears” section in IOS was several pages, for some reason i had missed that

I use that to focus the XP-E2, focusing the XP-G2 shouldn’t be much different.

Heck yeah! 4800mah! That blows away my LG, Panasonic and Samsung batteries. I may order it just for the battery.

I still got 2 of the original Jacob's stock - just didn't have time to get to them. But now, better options with XP-E2's white or color, etc.

The Cofly on AliExpress has that side switch that could be a power switch, not e-switch. I've gotten a light or 2 who's switch looks the same and ended up being a power switch sideways mounted with an extra spring - more crap, more resistance, not good for high amps, but if you stay with an XP-E2, you won't be going high amps anyway. The Cofly though is an exc. price right now for $13.50 for the next 12 hrs.

Pls dont! I found out that its actual power is about 10mill amps, and its nuclear powered: You`ll became an object of Homeland security( or else) easy….maybe its somekind of a cunny chinese plan to conquere the world by secretly selling nuclear 18650s

That FL main issue is the reflector, otherwise it could be a nice budget thrower

I think there is nothing wrong with your reflector. How do I know? I sold about 30 of them and all had same stock beam pattern as on your picture. So yes this looks like Jacob A60 to me.

This is not for white wall hunters this is for real hunters, and SMO reflectors does not have clean beam like OP anyway.

classic A60 - great performance, but ugly doin it Smile. You'd say it's a cheap setup with the plastic reflector, but, Fenix lights have plastic reflectors - doesn't matter accept for crazy amps maybe. I did have a plastic reflector melt a little, but that was at 5A+ in a little light with poor heat sinking.

This thread got me interested in my A60's again. I actually just did my first successful heat de-dome on a XP-E2 R3 1D0 (Mitko's). I practiced on 2 XML T6's first.

Tom E I have best luck with your gas de doming method and I really don't care for little greenish tint.

I did practiced on some old emitters but I almost never can get clear dome with hot de doming. Always some residue on top of emitter which should not be big deal in reflector lights but I am not putting that in aspherics.

I am pretty sure that there is no better 1X18650 reflector thrower in Jacob A60 size. 200+kcd is joke for Jacob and it disappeared from market???

So XP-E2 R3 de domed and driven at least to 2,5A should go to 220KCD.

The only thing that went down hill bout them is the lens I suppose - stock ones come in messy sometimes. Even still, great stock thrower with the XP-E, and like your say'n, capable of over 200 KCD. It is a bit old fashion - chunky, too much metal for today's budget light.

I'm gonna build one up with this de-domed XP-E2, then the other, do a red XP-E2 - not sure if de-domed or not...

My favorite 18650 EDC is the ZY-T11 clone at BangGood for like $9.50, but it's probably goin away soon, following the Jacob. That one though has the horrible stock UI (click thru all modes to exit) so I can understand it, but fully modded, it's a beautiful thing.

Hi!

In my jacob with dedome Xpe2 was powered harshly at 3A and did not reach to 180kcd…
Then reduced to 2.1A, and I got much lower temperature and barely pass 200kcd!!
