John Deere moving to Mexico

This is yet another loss of a 100 year old company.

Very sad to see. In a way its a self fulfilling prophecy. A loaf of bread is $5, eggs $6, gallon of milk $6, average home price over $250k. Farmers wont buy equipment with these high interest rates.

John Deere shot themselves in the foot, forcing DRM on their devices where even a minor fix requires farmers submit a ticket and wait ages for someone to physically stop by to fix. Their fight against the right to repair has led to their demise.

Well said.

Working for a service provider I’ve seen this all too often - the market will frequently accept an inferior service so long as the service experience is good. The DRM rent-seeking would remain a self-inflicted wound, but no so serious had their field service been up to snuff.

You drive around here where you used to see green and yellow under every farm shed it’s been pretty fast turning red. They screwed themself when they took the stand against farmers being able to easily repair tractors.
Just about all their parts are made down there anyways. They might as well take the rest of their junk south.
