Cutting a round of cheese it rolled with the knife and sliced the side on my finger. A quick rinse and a dab of superglue, then compression wrapped tight in a paper towel. 10 minutes later I was off to work as the wife said I was stupid and it needed stitches. Guys at work thought it was a good idea all the women sided with my wife. A dull wit and a sharp tool make for hours of entertainment.
You need a tetanus shot pronto. Not something to play with. You can die from it and — not to scare you — but that just the type of deep wound you get it from, one made by metal with perhaps a little rust in the mix.
Incubation can be eight days or so. Muscle cramps are one of the most common symptoms (that’s why they call it lockjaw). MUCH harder to cure once you get it.
I had a friend who almost died from it. He was sick as a dog for six months. Even after he was supposedly cured, he would get these back muscle cramps that were so bad and sudden that his back would arch like the letter “c.” It was scary as all get-out to watch, and he said it was much worse to live through.
He got it from a hack-saw blade cut.
Needless to say, I have kept up with my tetanus shots ever since.
Wasn’t super glue invented as a field dressing?
Well I just went to the emergency ward but the line was long and the room already full - I felt a bit silly being there for a sore finger, so I'll go see my GP tomorrow (Monday) morning. I need travel shots so I may as well do it all in one hit.
Yes super was originally intended to be a field dressing :)
and funny as hell
Just been to the doc. Tetanus shot done and a big box of Cephalexin capsules to go and box of Prodeine Forte to help with the pain. I also got a Typhoid jab and some blood tests done to see if I need HepA and HepB immunisation shots for an upcoming trip to Thailand. The nurse missed the first vein she went for, tried getting it again without removing the needle and then finally decided to switch arms. Thanks lady.
Pain is temporary
Glory is forever
Bones heal

Best wishes for a speedy recovery .
So sorry to hear. Sometimes we all have to learn the hard way. I hope you feel better, and well enough to ship off my drop-in :~
Glad it wasn’t worse.

Haha no it hasn't affected that at all. I was waiting on the optics arriving and they did today so it will be shipped off tomorrow. There is also another package on its way to you (the switch) but I'm not sure when that will arive as it was out of stock when it was ordered....but it will arrive around the same time as the drop-in :)

Anytime someone’s having a bad day, they can take a break and read up on the shortfalls of others. Always good for a laugh. I’ve done carpentry work myself, so when Boaz told of missing with a 20oz Estwing and hitting himself in the head with it I bout rolled off my chair!
I’m not going into the many things I’ve done, but will tell one on my cousin. Buddy is 5’4” and accident prone. We were building cabinets together. He had a 2 hp table mounted wood shaper for making the raised panels and cabinet doors and he’d gotten a new bit that had a really wide cut, like 1 3/4” for shaping a fancy raised panel. His phone went off in the house (Saturday, I didn’t get to witness this one) and as he made for it he didn’t turn off the shaper. Slipped on a piece of wood and grabbed at the table to steady himself, Jammed his left hand straight into the running shaper blade! It was pretty ugly, darn near tore off his index finger and mauled the next two as well. He still does stuff like that, never learns a thing.
Now he’s up in VA making some pretty nice looking Mandolins and Violins and an occasional Guitar. I can only imagine the scars he’s acquired since moving back home.
JohnnyMac, your descriptive eloquence after reading about the drilled toe sent me into convulsions. Thank You! I thought I was about over this cough, guess not.
I used to be a tin bender on I know this may scare some of you aircraft I have done that many a time my left index finger @1st joint a #10 hole in bone and all! A few other times backing another tech locate a doubler to skin I got directions bass akwards and had a #40 6” bit go about 11/2 ” into right forarm I understand the frustration and the pain for my lack of attention

I find it very funny to ask for pictures, though I want to see some pictures too.
Every time I drill something, I think of my fingers getting drilled. But it didn’t happen yet. Scary because I don’t have proper clamping jigs, mostly holding using another hand while drilling.
