I think I will put it into my most used light to give some test.
At work I use Solarforce L2T which ATM has XM-L2 and 2-mode driver. I hat that driver, goes on low-voltage step-down too early, is quite bump-sensitive on mode change.
Has now 2 modes but it has toooo sloooow ON-time mode memory. Grrr…
Question:
Good driver side springs, where to get from?
Got my copper springs from hkequipment, bought them via eBay and it took forever. But the spring is good. needed a smaller because of space in my light.
That’s the darksucks driver, right? Not trying to be negative but what’s so great about it? I mean, its pretty expensive for what seems to just be a linear driver. Why this instead of a normal $4 qlite? What am I missing?
Very good question.
Afiak, it does use a better micro controller, the attiny25 instead of the attiny13 from the Qlite.
and due to that attiny25, it has an interesting FW but still it doesn’t make up the price…
I have tested it only a little. Havent had time to do else than basic mode programming.
Takes pretty good amperage though.
Memory works fast, easy and fast access to strobe of needed.
Easy to check battery voltage. Gonna try someday that heat management how it works.
DrJones is a BLF member and he has dozens of different highly customized drivers available. He also programmed some of the drivers for Vinh and Mountain Electronics.
Well, sort of, Prometheus Lights is not a budget light company... He earns his living with making flashlights, so he has to calculate 'professional' prices, not 'hobbyist' prices I guess. However, Icarus does have much more features than a NANJG105, e.g. the full thermal regulation like some of the newer lights have (and which I'm a bit proud of). It's bigger brother is the H17F, with about the same features, except that the H17F has 8*AMC7135 and a FET for a direct drive turbo mode, while the Icarus has 9*AMC7135 for 3.4A on high. Info about the H17F is here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/36651
