i’m a fan of the S1, though it is my 2nd favorite light

favorite is FW3A, but it is at least $35, 18650 only, ramping user interface

Do you like the S1 better with the 18650 or the shorter version?

i use the FW3A for 99% of EDC and 18650 applications

the S1 usually has the short tube on it, 18350, just to have a different place in the hierarchy (i.e., smallish, though the fw3a is almost as small)

also my S1 happens to have the warmest tint of all my lights, but that is rarely needed

it is so yellow, it is actually distracting

shortness is my main thing, plus good UI
if no 18650 were shorter than the S1, it would be #1 favorite, and was for a while
it has a great UI, though not as fancy as FW3A
it’s just too big with 18650, and i don;t want to spend $8 for an 18350 cell with high-ish capacity, and have that still way below 18650s that i got for free

now you too can use ‘free’ 18650s, so-called ‘laptop pulls’

or the standard samsung cells everyone likes, i have 4 of them

Often the answer is Yes.
Are they still any good? Sometimes.
Will you bleed trying to harvest them? Iffy, but possible.
Can trying to open a permanently sealed laptop pack be a royal PITA, and possibly a touch dangerous? Yup.
