Kaidomain K6 host

Interesting. Versus a C8 reflector, this one is probably almost 50% wider and deeper also. How much additional throw is this expected to offer?

Closest looking unit I've found in AliExpress.

It's this one.

Cheers :-)

but not op but smooth it seems

Really curious on the candela of this one that comes with the XHP35 HI. Was considering this as a possible budget thrower candidate, but ended up going with the L2. Because of the naming convention I just thought this was the L6 format, but are the dimensions actually different?

The dinensions/form factor is that of the classic HD2010 flashlight, but with deeper reflector and easy modding instead of hard.

If I was offered a CFT90 led for free, this would my the host for it that is a good compromise in compactness and performance, a high drain 26650 should provide 15 amps and the reflector gets the 3000 lumen pretty far away.

Hmm. 213kcd with a dedomed XM-L2. I’m not one for throw yet I only really know lumens. If no other reviews with measurements pop up I’ll likely get one in due time.

Looks like it uses H2-C driver: http://www.kaidomain.com/p/S026504.H2-C-22mm-1_5A-1-or-2-cell-5-Mode-Boost-Driver-Circuit-Board-for-Cree-XHP35-XHP50-12V

I was considering an XHP35 HI for a HD2010 (similar to this host) but was discouraged by a knowledgeable member who cited the lack of an available driver that could deliver better performance compared to using a dedomed SST40/XML/XPL HI and FET/DD.

H2-C can only deliver 1.5A max and I believe 2-2.5A(?) was desired to make using the XHP35 worthwhile over the dedomed SST40/XML/XPL HI and FET/DD.

KD’s C8.2 with XHP35 (I believe it also uses H2-C driver) has been said to get very hot quickly compared to the XHP50.2 version.

I’d like to hear some others thoughts because it seems even with 1.5A I’d still get around 1800lm(?) with XHP35, also would the H2-C driver be more efficient (longer run time) then a FET/DD?

.

Sorry if I missed something here but where did you see 213kcd with a dedomed XM-L2 for the K6?

1.5A at 12V is still 18W. Comparable to 6A at 3V. It definitely isn’t pushing the xhp35 as hard as it could, but it’s still should be more lumens than a DD XP-L. The density is lower, but with the more lumens throw may be similar or a little weaker with a larger hotspot.

I’d assume that driver is better than DD because it’s not a PWMd FET which burns off excess voltage and also strobes at max voltage so you don’t get the better efficacy of low current. You can boost the Kaido drivers with a resistor mod but you lose some efficiency.

Those numbers are from a dedomed XM-L2 in a HD2010 which the K6 is built after.

Sense resistor mod will get the hc2 up towards 2a. I have a few driven that way. Driver gets hot if you don’t heatsink it though. I only use mine on turbo for a few seconds at a time. They also don’t like to run on one cell, no turbo that way. Two 26350 drive it well in my f13 xhp35hi and two 26650 in my l2.

The H2-C can use way more than 10A at the input, and is Vout moddable for 3S and 2S emitters:

Replacing the “30D” (200kΩ) for an 82KΩ changes open circuit output voltage to 7.5V, this way 2S XHP50x/XHP70x emitters can be driven. Sense resistor, R050, would need stacking some more pieces (each R050 adds 1.5A max, R100 0.75A, R200 0.375A, R330 ≈0.227A, etc). 6A should be feasible, this corresponds to 3A “12V” output (with 2S cells input).

Cheers ^:)
