Klarus E5 Review

Hello everyone. Here’s my review on Klarus E5. Thanks for a good place to share content. Please subscribe to my channel :pray:.

1 Thank

Thanks for the nice review! :+1:

Interesting light, unfortunately I read in another forum that the E5 has quite strong PWM on the lower modes, can you confirm this?

I can confirm it from my example of the E5. Actually I checked and all modes have bad PWM.

You also have to cycle through all modes to turn it off. To avoid the strobe, you can switch emitters and cycle to off on the other emitter. Also, both of them are ludicrously floody. It’s steaming garbage.

Very sad, this could be a nice light without the visible PWM and some minor changes to the UI (and perhaps more of a distinction between the emitters).

Klarus, are you listening?

Yeah, if the end-lamp was a real LED with some sort of optic, and a new driver…
But I think it’s mostly supposed to be cheap.

I measured 100Hz in all modes, except Turbo (Main COB).

Way too low. 100 Hz is one of the lowest frequency I ever saw in a flashlight… tbh this ruins this light for me.

Don’t worry the rest isn’t great anyway
If it had no PWM at all I’d still say your money is better spent being lit on fire and subsequently flushed down a toilet

I also recently (in an impuls) bought the Klarus E5, when it really cheap on Aliexpress and unfortunately I didn’t check BLF beforehand, because as stated in this topic, the PWM is HORRIBLE on this flashlight.

I checked the listing on AE (after reading about the PWM here on BLF) and weirdly they state in one of their images (and in big letters): “No visible PWM!”.
Really weird that they state that in big letters and then sell a flashlight with such horrible PWM. I know it’s a budget light, but from what I can tell Klarus builds quality lights, so It’s a shame that they release a product like this with their name on it.
