Klarus, high end light, low end customer service

Hello,

I have a thread going elsewhere on this but im shocked by my experience with Klarus. I got a P2A a few month back and never really used it, you know how it is when you have enough lights.

Anyway I decided to sell it, so I give it a once over and noticed when the head was loose it would flicker, as it needs to be loose to change modes thats a bit of an issue.

I emailed Klarus about it they explained the sub contracted some lights to jetbeam (sent pictures too) and they fitted a shorter silver spring, so admitting they were faulty where I come from. I cannot get the retaining ring loose at all, like its glued so i asked for a tail cap to repair the issue, ive been offered a fix by a UK seller for £18!!!!!!!!!!!

I have declined this stupid offer, but the amount of emails back and forward, a lot needing 2 and 3 to get a reply, and I have told them to send me a switch and a fellow CPF'er has offered to fix it in the US (very kind), I would still be out of pocket though for postage when in my opinion when a company admits there is a fault they should rectify it ASAP, possibly even a new light!

Where I am at the moment is they want postage for the switch.................fuming!

Anyway, I have had better luck with DX, and the only other 'big' company I contacted Eagletac about a broken clip, 1 email and clip posted out no questions asked, as you would expect

Most of the companies I have dealt with want you to settle it with the place of purchase, they don't want to deal with it themselves.I have a P2A and the JetBeam BA2? version. The P2A has a better switch by far.Good Luck

Yeah I have been told that, but I only ever had one problem before and went to the company direct and it was sorted no problem, I now know this is not the procedure, but when they say that they have sent out faulty stock I at least would expect nothing but an instant resolve which ever way I went about it. Shame really as I like the light, but will never buy another Klarus now

One thing I'd like to suggest to all P2A owners, check if the threads on the head are lubed.

If they're not, the light can sometimes flicker between low and high mode. A little silicone grease in the threads makes the switching feel more precisely and reduces wear on the bare aluminum threads.

Other than that it's a fine light IMO.

I lubed mine on arrival and thought that was the problem, but I cleaned it off and it still played up, problem is the sping is too short, and the battery nipple barely sticks out of the tube

sorry to hear ..

although i never wanted to buy a klarus because i thought they were too expensive in the end i am the owner of 3 klarus lights .. because i got them all for an apple and an eye when they were on Xmas special sale on Dinodirect.

klarus themselves are responsive (Daniel, Nina, ..) but some distributors ..etc.. ;)

Fantastic translation of the German saying "Für 'n Appel und 'n Ei" or "Für einen Apfel und ein Ei"...translating to "for an apple and an egg"... with the meaning that you got something really cheap.... you would have made Lübke proud. Thanks for the lough. If someone ever doubted you were German... there is no bigger proof than that. ;-)

Wow, that's cheap!!! Only one eye, that's a great bargain. :P

my legitimacy is reinstated on BFL then?

hehe

I guess that is as opposed to giving an arm and a leg, or your left nut, for something that would be very expensive. (Not sure why nothing is ever so expensive that you would have to give your right nut for it)

I know it's not the point, but can't you solder a new, longer spring to the switch?

If you can, Presto! No more shipping.

Rich

This!

Can you not stretch the spring a little? Incidentally mine does the same, but I find if I turn it just enough to put it in to low power, it is fine.

Marc.

Please excuse the probably silly question, but are you sure you're trying to turn the ring in the right direction (literally)? Klarus lights feature a "reverse" thread for the retainig ring in the tailcap to prevent that it comes loose when using the lockout function a lot.

OK! now go get in on OL"s give away. After admin checks your IP LOL

Keith (who has no authority)

Like Huny74 said, the retaining ring loosens when turned clockwise!

Wow, what a disappointment. If Klarus is admitting to sending out faulty product then they need to fix it on their own dime!

I had exactly the same issue with mine. Threads are loose. I sent Klarus a support message and never got a reply.

I fixed the issue using some aluminum foil at the head threads.

Can we get some serial numbers to see which lights are affected?

I just had the same idea.

Mine is P2SN00438 and it's fine.
