New to the forum, so this is my first post.
I’ve been looking around for a new lantern to hang in my shed (dimentions: about 3yards x 7yards), but I’ll also take it with me whenever I go camping (1 or 2 times a year) and maybe later when I pick up fishing again (kids you know …. ).
I have some requirements. It doesn’t have to apply to all of them, but it would be nice offcourse.
1: Warm light with enough output nicely distributed
2: Long lasting and rechargeable batteries
3: A small “directional” LED to find the light when it’s dark in the shed
4: Should be able to hang from the ceiling. Either with a hook or maybe a magnet.
5: It would be nice if it had a motion sensor build in, but I guess that’s too far fetched?
- I’ve been looking at the Sofirn lights already and they seem nice (especially with the 11/11 deals on Ali now), but I’m afraid the UI is a bit difficult if you don’t use it enough like I would (and especially my wife …). Is it a bit user friendly though?
- Option number 3 is the Nitecore LR60, but I’m afraid of the light colour and the distribution of the light (dark spots on the edges)?
Option 4: Fenix CL30R, but this one seems like it could have an update. USB micro, no red light, …
Any other suggestions? I do live in Belgium, so it has to be available there or be able to be shipped. I really like the idea of the 2nd option (the actual lantern and not light from the sides, but I can’t find any quality in this).
Yeah, I thought about that indeed, but I don’t really have a place to hang the solar panel and I also haven’t found anything that was indicated a tad of quality.
Probably the best choice, I had looked at Belgium Amazon and it looked a lot different from American Amazon.
In my house and work area, I of course have my normal lighting but I also have little AAA lights with eneloops hanging in the dark corner areas or where I might need a little more light focus, one hanging by the door to light the way to the lantern can be useful.
This is the problem with a lot of modern sofirn lights.
I’m hoping they release a more camping-oriented version of the LT1s in the future. As it stands, it would be annoying in a >1 person camping context.
I would make it with 1 (Lit up) button and 2 turnknobs. One turnknob to adjust the light color (warm-cold) and one for the brightness. Nothings beats a knob that you can turn! It might be more difficult to make it water/dustproof like this, but if you’re going camping with a trailer or camper or such, I believe that’s less of an issue.
The normal button is for on/off, candlelight, strobe, SOS and if you long press from off position, you switch between red light/white light.
If this can be made, I would buy the s… out of that product :-P!!!
Edit: so basically the LT1s with a very easy UI, 1 pushbutton and 2 turnknobs.
I hope Sofirn and/or DB SAR reads this!!
