Im not a fan of anything “fun” so doesn’t appeal to me .
I can see how (for right price) it might be popular. Could it also work on those Mao coatings?
If you anodised the light again, would the ano only stick to the etched zones and not to the original ano? Could be a neat way to get multiple colours.
There was a guy in the UK some time ago who did ceracoated convoy lights which looked quite unique. He closed his shop due to lack of demand for flashlight parts in the UK I think… went by name of something-tronix… Perhaps something else will remember full name.
Might be worth avoiding horizontal lines across the threaded parts to account for different mods, it would be a shame if the design didn’t line up after someone put a thicker/thiner lens in etc.
Once staged and honed it could become a repeatable process with that said I think I might do some designs over and over, but also do some limited edition runs.
I was told it smoked…and that he “did not go sniff the smoke” lol
I mean does the light smell afterwards. I have a less powerful laser and have toyed around with burning designs on powder-coated stainless. The pieces stink for days (weeks?) afterwards. I hear putting them in baking soda afterwards can help remove the funk.
ahhhh. no no no. no smell at all. Even better that I’m not the guy doing it. He maybe nose blind to it. Its gets handed to me finished and 0 smell
…thank goodness! I didnt know that was potentially a thing
