My favorite hiking stove used to be the MSR Whisperlite gasoline stove: simple, great output, also in freezing conditions and it weighs next to nothing. Somehow I lost it .
Now I am very happy with an old Camping Gaz Bleuet butane stove.
It works extremely well as long as I use my home-made foldable aluminium windshield around it. And the butane/propane refills are very cheap and on sale in any hardware store in Europe. Nowadays I just avoid camping at freezing conditions
i ate 4 chili dogs and a pound of slow cooked grilled beans with bacon in them last night… the amount of gas i will unleash will kill every mosquito in connecticut.
She can flip you on your belly and use you for the stove.

Are you kidding me, the best time of the year to go camping… and use your flashlights, enjoy a fire, no mosquitos to roast and extra hours to chill out and snuggle w your honey…
MSR kicks butt once the temps head down below 10-15 degrees…our propane mixes get pretty weak at that point.
Have fun man!
Absolutely nothing wrong with camp stoves. I too own several. Everything from two burner white gas Coleman’s to homemade Alcohol, though I too prefer the white gas MSR Whisperlite for backpacking and kayak camping.
Anyway, I only brought it up before because I think I may have promised Pulsar I’d get him one for Christmas.
haha no, i think i was looking for a pay it forward from someone else that was getting a xmas present, that ended up buying his own xmas present in july...
I have actually been looking for a decent donor tank to make a frankenstove... but those are quite pricey now too...
i like my primus omnifuel quite a bit, but i think i would like a svea 123 more. wont know until i buy one and try it i guess
The btu ss is in a class of its own… Tons of throw spill and light everywhere
neither
i went flashlighting
The little Svea123r is a fun stove to boil water on but not great for skillet cooking. They are rock solid dependable though, not much to go wrong.I preheat and light mine with alcohol but there are other more entertaining ways to get them going.(think little brass stove engulfed in flames) >)
I can see the possibilities of a new thread here for stoves…now even more ways for the BLF faithful to tinker and possibly blow themselves up… or at least a few eyebrows, ‘let me tell you about the time…true story’.
