It seems the Amish in LaGrange county have home made batteries that have been running for decades. The Antinomy is between 6 and 8 percent and the lead is recycled tire weights. These batteries need more water replaced than lead acid but otherwise work fine. Amish prefer to use technology in the bible. It seems some one told them about the Bagdad batteries. This would be a good battery for the survivalist.

Common deep cycle types are lead antimony.
Real deep cycle stuff like golf car and floor scrubber batts.
Are these homemade batts solid plate designs?
The Amish were melting down tire weights which have antimony in them.
Both lead and antimony are nasty elements that don’t belong near human bodies in any sort of concentration.
