Okay, so it’s a 1yo video, but still some interesting info about a lot of brands.
I got a bunch of different types of bulbs for various uses. In a closet or in the basement, or as an alleyway wall-light, I’ll throw in the cheapshiite blubs and make do. For 1buk each, who cares if I’m just doing laundry or grubbling through a closet looking for a hoodie, etc.?
In my main living area, I got a Kinur 3-way bulb in the lamp, that’s something like 40W/80W/150W equivalent, and it has hardly any flicker based on The Fan Test™. The cheapshiite bulbs I have elsewhere definitely have a stroboscopic effect on the same fan.
Kinur also has some great customer-service, too. The box for some different bubs came with a corner bashed in, and one of the bulbs in the N-pack (N=4, 6, whatever, forgot), and asked them about it, if they could send a single bulb replacement, and they said nope, we’ll just toss you another N-pack. Noice!
(The 3-ways were in a tupac, and both were perfect.)
Anyhoo, I also like the Hizachi glass blubs with the filaments, also high-CRI and low flicker. Plus they just look nicer than the typische snowcone bulbs.
Yeh, I like that he actually gives the answer in like the first 20sec of the video, and does it Project Farm style with actual instrumentation to back up his observations.
I get pist at videos like Professor Of Rock that make some loud claim in the title, like “This '70s song was played at schools but is actually pr0nographic!”. So I go “whaaat?” and like an idiot, click on it.
And it turns out to be a top-10-of-'70s-hits, including whatever song he mentioned being somewhere in that list, and by the end of the video I still have no f’n idea which, because I can’t take 27min of yakyakyak, so fast-forward through it, and skip over it because that song mentioned is #3 or #6 in his list and it’s a 5sec blurb about one line of the lyrics being thinly-veiled pr0nographic.
Meanwhile, the song is something from, say, The Clash, yet the video’s thumbnail has Robert Plant crooning into a microphone. Tf??
Yeah, instant “dislike” from me, and I pretty much never hit “like” or “dislike” unless it’s richly deserved.
At least this guy gets straight to the point, announces his pick, then gives all the details of the roundup one by one. Niiiice!
I purchased a pack of I think 20 bulbs from a deal on BLF/Vipon . They were like 20 cents each. I have to say they are damn good. I have them outdoors in sub zero temperature and no issues.
Those were 60W equivalent but mislabeled as 100W equivalent. I grexed about to them, so they cut me a refund for half the vipon price. Wasn’t asking for anything, just grexed about it to inform them, but they threw money at me anyway, so hey…
Think they were viponned for 20bux, so I got 10 back, so about fitty cent each.
Even got a 2nd box of 'em (!), as I went through the house and replaced all the hotwire and all the curly bulbs I could find, in little-used areas (basement, attic, under the patio, closets, stairwells, etc.).
They’re ripply, so you see the stroboscopic effect on fans and such. But after using The Hammer Of Knowledge™ on one to dissect its innards, I found they’re pretty decently made. Bare budget, no frills, but decent enough, so shouldn’t catch fire or anything.
In actual living areas, I got/use better blubs. Soraa spots in track lighting, those Kinur 3-ways in the lamps, etc. Just put The Good Stuff™ where it counts.
