i have a maglite charger and i want to put there a led up to 1000 lumens.
some one do that before?
i dont have the original buld and no battery so i think about to use a 18650 with D size adapter.
what my options?
the left one.
thank you.

you don’t have many options, terallux is pbly the only drop in that is made for MC.
the light takes 5 1\2d cells, you should be able to fit 2 18650, however drop in is made for 6v, not 8,4 that you get from 2xliion. mine drop in for regular mag, is also rated for 4-6 cells, but works just fine with up to 18v, so i would think MC drop in would be ok with 2 volts over. but forget cradle charging, you’ll have to remove cells everytime you charge them.
as for diy MC mod, i have not seen many, actually i’ve seen 0. MC is a lot more complicated to convert than regular mag lite. no reason to mess with 100dollars light, when $20 one can be moded a lot easier.
in not must to have a drop in…
if i didnt mod it it will sent to the garbage. so better to mod it.
the bulbs from the bigger flashlight is in very close size. but i cant find a way to tear the maglite.
The tp4056 charging pcbs are used for single cells but maybe you could wire two 18650 inside in parallel use a standard one cell driver and use either a custom pill or a mr16bulb.
Is the mag charger just a maglite with two contact rings which are routed inside?
i dont care about using or not using the charger. it dosent metter. i have tons of 18650.
thank you i will try it, but first i have to know how i tear it down for remove the centrall bulb holder…
thank you.
I think OL did an MC mod. He migh have some hints. On regular mags there is a set screw under ther switch boot that you remove to pull the innards.
Expensive, currently sold out.
i will go with the werner mod.
The $2.24 triple? That one is a lot of fun. Just note you’ll be getting ~300 lumens, a lot of flood, and no maglite focus adjustability. It may or may not be what your looking for.
It has been a long time since I worked on a Magcharger. My memory fails me. The only thing I can think of is having to remove a “C” clip, to get the bulb assembly and switch out, but I cannot be sure of that.
Hi, there is a company in the Nederlands selling interesting Drop-ins for the Mag Charger (1300 Lumen SST 50 for example…)
